The Hockinson High School Band Program offers a variety of performance opportunities for students of all experience levels. Each ensemble plays a unique role in our program while working together to create a culture of musical excellence, teamwork, and school pride. Whether your passion is concert music, jazz, percussion, or marching band, there is a place for you in the Hockinson Band family.


Wind Ensemble

Our premier concert ensemble

Wind Ensemble is Hockinson’s most advanced concert band and is open by audition. Students perform challenging collegiate-level literature while developing advanced musicianship, artistry, and leadership skills. The ensemble regularly participates in regional festivals, competitions, and special performances throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Symphonic Band

Building musicianship and confidence

Symphonic Band is a dynamic concert ensemble that provides students with the opportunity to continue growing as performers while experiencing all that the Hockinson Band Program has to offer. Students perform a wide variety of concert literature and participate in concerts, festivals, and community performances throughout the year.

Percussion Ensemble

Rhythm at the center of the program

Hockinson offers a dedicated Percussion Ensemble class for all percussion students. Members develop skills on keyboard percussion, snare drum, timpani, drum set, concert percussion, and marching percussion while performing both as an independent ensemble and as the percussion section for our concert bands, jazz band, marching band, and pep band.

Jazz Band

Creativity takes center stage

Jazz Band explores the rich traditions of swing, funk, Latin, rock, and contemporary jazz. Students develop stylistic performance skills, improvisation, and musical independence while performing at festivals and community events throughout the year. Membership is by audition and is open to students enrolled in the Hockinson band program.

Marching and Pep Band

The heartbeat of Hawk pride

Marching and Pep Band brings music, movement, and school spirit together through performances at football and basketball games, pep assemblies, community events, and parades. Students learn precision marching, visual performance, teamwork, and leadership while creating many of the memories that define the high school experience.
