Welcome to HHS Band!
Tradition & Excellence
The Hockinson High School Band has long been a cornerstone of student life, drawing in nearly one in six students at the school. What began as a small instrumental program has grown into an award-winning tradition, earning multiple honors as Outstanding Instrumental Music Program at regional festivals. From the Wind Ensemble to the Jazz Band, Hockinson’s musicians have consistently earned top honors — and their talent has carried them far beyond the region, performing across the Pacific Northwest and in Southern California, Washington, D.C., and Honolulu. In 2008, the Marching Band even represented Washington State and the United States at the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
More Than Music
For the students who join, band is rarely just an elective — it becomes a second family. Musicians spend countless hours together, in class, after school, and on the road, building bonds that carry them through years of competitions, concerts, and performances. Along the way, they learn more than music: discipline, teamwork, resilience, and the reward that comes from putting in the work as part of something bigger than themselves.
A Community Tradition
The band’s impact stretches beyond the students who play in it. Friday night football games, community parades, and winter concerts are moments where the Hockinson Band becomes part of the fabric of the community itself, uniting families, alumni, and neighbors around a shared source of pride. Season after season, the band continues a legacy that reflects the very best of what a small-town school community can build together.
