Home Football Game Details

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GAME DAY PROCEDURES FOR ALL HOME FOOTBALL GAMES

3:30 – School Ends

Students are welcome to hang out in the band room when school ends if they do not have a ride home or back to the high school.  This is a good time to eat an early dinner (bring one with you or have a parent drop one off for you).  If you ride the bus I don’t recommend you ride it home on game days, as most students just have to turn around and come back to the high school.  This is also a good time to change into your athletic shorts and pep band shirt that you will wear under your band uniform.

5:00 – Halftime Rehearsal

All students need to attend this rehearsal on the practice field behind the school to run the halftime show.  If you are in fall sports, please leave your practice early.  If you have a meet/game/contest that day, we will just do our best to get you prepared this week in class. Please get from your meet/game/contest to the school as soon as your event is done to try and catch some of our practice.  Students need the following for practice:

6:00 – Change Into Uniforms

You will be changing in the band room around other people, so make sure you’re wearing your pep band shirt and athletic shorts already.  DON’T FORGET LONG BLACK SOCKS AND YOUR BASEBALL CAP.  If you ordered new marching band shoes they will be waiting for you in your garment bag.  If you have long hair, a high ponytail works best to fit through the back of your baseball cap and up underneath your marching hat.

6:20 – Depart Band Room

Students will line up and march out to the football stadium together.  Be sure you have the following:

6:30 – Pregame Music In Stands

We will be standing in the same place as we did at band camp, observing all social distancing markers.  We will play music from our stands folder until shortly before the game when we play The Star-Spangled Banner.

7:00 – Kickoff

During the game we will play during timeouts and in between plays.  Energy and spirit!

5 min. Remaining in 2nd Quarter – Halftime Prep

Switch from your baseball cap to your marching hat, grab your halftime music, and meet behind the stadium bleachers.  Parent volunteers will place a feather in your marching hat.  We will warm up and head to our “Rage Corners” in preparation for halftime.

Halftime – Perform!

Check this link for you halftime music order.  After halftime ends, we will form the tunnel for the team to run through, then file off the field in line.  Parent volunteers will remove your feathers – DO NOT try to remove the feathers on your own.

3rd Quarter – Break

All students have 3rd quarter off to take a break, hang out with friends/family, or just watch the game.  The following rules must be followed during break.  Failure to do so will result in no 3rd quarter break at the next game:

  • Stay in full uniform.  You may remove your gloves if eating or using the restroom, but you cannot leave any uniform parts off or sitting in the bleachers.
  • Do not eat or drink anything that could stain your uniform.
  • Remain in the field complex.  No visits to the parking lot or school building.
  • Hold onto your instrument and do not leave it sitting in the bleachers.  This is how instruments fall or get stepped on, and there’s no time for costly repairs before Husky Band Day!
  • Return to the band setup and be ready to play with 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter
  • Trombones and Drumline – you must be set up on the track with 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter, so do not be late.

4th Quarter – Resume Playing

Rally caps!

End of Game (around 9:30) – Postgame Music

We will play in the stands until the stands are clear and there is enough room for us to leave.  When the game ends:

  • Pick up all garbage and throw it away.
  • Look around for music, hats, etc.
  • Once we return to the band room, change out of your uniform, hang it up nicely, and place it back on the racks.  If there is a problem with your uniform, notify a booster parent ASAP.
  • Place your instrument and music back in your locker.
  • Enjoy some snacks!

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
