Husky Band Day Final Details

Dear Band Students and Families,

Husky Band Day is this Saturday!  Please make sure you read the following information carefully so you know what to do and bring.  We leave early Saturday morning and don’t have a lot of room for error so please be sure to ask questions if you have any.  This is one of my patented “way too long” emails, but I want to make sure you know everything you need to know.

Please Please PLEASE make sure you set multiple alarms in the morning so that you do not miss the bus!

Please arrive at HHS by 4:00am.  Students need to be wearing their black HHS Pep Band shirts upon arrival.  The bus needs to depart the high school at 4:15am in order to make it to Husky Stadium on time.

Students have signed up for one of three buses and have been assigned chaperone groups for the trip (check the final roster in the band room).  Once you’re on the bus, verify you are sitting in the correct spot.  Everyone must keep the same seats on the bus up and back to aid in speedy attendance-taking.

Students will be able and encouraged to sleep on the way up to Seattle. No movies on the TV system, and students must use headphones if listening to or watching something.  Students can bring whatever they need to be comfortable on the bus but realize it all has to be left on the bus when we get to the stadium and, while the buses are locked when parked, the bus drivers do not stay with the buses.

Students will be changing into uniforms on the bus.  Students should all wear a pep band shirt and athletic shorts underneath their uniform.

While at UW students must stay in their chaperone groups.  If you must leave the group for any reason (such as going to the bathroom once we get to our seats) you must check in with your chaperone when you leave and when you return.  You must also leave with a buddy, and some students will be required to travel exclusively with a chaperone if the chaperone or I determine that they need some extra adult supervision.  FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WILL RESULT IN STUDENTS LOSING THEIR TRAVELING PRIVILEGES WITH THE BAND.

Our rehearsal at Husky Stadium starts at 7:45 AM.  Students cannot take backpacks, purses, etc. off the bus and into the security line.  Put credit cards and cell phones inside the pocket in your uniform.

At 10:30 AM we will break for lunch and an 11:45 AM pre-game pep rally before making our way to our seats for the 1:00 PM kickoff.  At halftime we will get to take to the field and perform a halftime show.  Students will be allowed to visit the concession stands during the 2nd half if they check in and out with their chaperone and go with a buddy from their chaperone group.  REMEMBER HUSKY STADIUM IS A CASHLESS STADIUM, SO IF YOU WANT CONCESSIONS YOU NEED TO BRING A CREDIT CARD OR VISA GIFT CARD.  The game will end at approximately 4:30 PM, after which we will load buses and head toward home.  There will be some snacks and water on the bus provided by the boosters.

We will make a fast food stop for dinner on the way home.  Plan on about 45-60 minutes.  If we are running late or run into traffic it may be shorter.  Students must let their chaperone know which restaurant they will be going to, and are not allowed to move between restaurants.  The cluster of restaurants are all within the same parking lot.

Our estimated return time to HHS is about 9:30-10 PM.

Okay, I think that’s about it.  If you have any questions please let me know.  It’s going to be fun!

Thanks,
