The Hockinson High School Jazz Band will be competing in the annual Skyview “Storm of Cool Jazz” Festival Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. The festival will be held in the auditorium at Skyview High School.
Students typically provide their own transportation to and from Skyview. If your student needs help with transportation please let me know and we will arrange carpools.
DON’T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR INSTRUMENT, MUSIC, MUTES, AND ANY UNIFORM PARTS HOME WITH YOU FRIDAY NIGHT! This festival has points allocated for appearance and uniform, so please make sure you have all uniform parts (including tux buttons, cufflinks, and top button covers!).
All students must be at Skyview High School (in uniform) at 3:30pm. We will meet in the commons and then proceed to the auditorium to watch a few bands together and get a sense of the room.
We are scheduled to warm up at 6:00PM. Our performance time is at 6:30, followed by a clinic at 7:00. The sightreading session (part of our score) will take place at 7:30. We will also get group and individual pictures taken at 8:00. After pictures, students are free to go grab some dinner before returning to Skyview at 9:30 for the awards ceremony. There are fast food restaurants nearby, or concessions will be available.
