Master Classes Are Coming Up!

This is a reminder that our annual Master Classes are coming up. The first of these classes is on Saturday, February 10 and the second will be on Saturday, March 3. Both dates were included on the calendar distributed to students at the end of last year as well as in the handbook distributed in September, and both events are a required portion of being in band. Keep in mind that these are two separate events, so students need to attend both dates.

On each day, students will get the opportunity to work in their sections with a professional musician on their instrument. These sessions will focus on refining technique overall, and more specifically help students with improving their current set of concert music. The event is free of charge to students thanks to the support of the Music Boosters.

The schedule for each day is listed below. Please be sure you show up by the designated call time so your section can start on time. Times were assigned based on instructor availability, students and parents who made me aware of scheduling issues ahead of time, and making sure that students in more than one band class can attend both their sessions.

Once again, attendance at this event is required. Instructors are giving up their time to be here and the Music Boosters are paying them for their time as well, so please show your gratitude by being on time and attentive throughout.

Parents: It is a tradition for Master Classes that we treat our instructors to a nice lunch in between sessions. Be watching for an email from the Music Boosters asking for donated lunch items. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I also want to pass my appreciation onto Nancy Vincent for organizing this year’s Master Class instructors, as well as our Music Booster parents for coordinating the logistics.

Thanks!
