Hi Everyone

Well, this unexpected Snow Day has created some problems for our concert tomorrow.  When school is canceled all activities for the day must be canceled as well.  That means tonight’s concert dress rehearsals must be canceled.  This decision is out of my control.
After consulting with school officials, student band council officers, coaches/advisors, Mrs. Ritenburgh (middle school concert is Thursday) and many more I have decided to move tomorrow’s concert to next Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30pm.  We will also reschedule today’s canceled dress rehearsals for tomorrow, March 8, from 4 to 6pm for Symphonic Band and 6 to 8pm for Wind Ensemble.
These dress rehearsals are crucial to the success of our concert, since this is the only time we get to put our percussionists together with our wind players prior to the performance.  I’ve been told it is not an option to excuse students from class to rehearse during the school day tomorrow.  It is also not possible for students to rehearse tomorrow after school before the concert for many reasons, including the time it takes for the physical setup for the concert and the fact that so much playing before a performance is hard on musicians’ endurance.
A couple of other schedule changes because of this:
  • The HHS Music Booster meeting scheduled for March 14 will now be tomorrow night, March 7, at 6:30pm in the library.
  • Benefit Dinner ticket sales will also be extended from March 10 to March 14 to allow for patrons to purchase tickets at the concert.  This must be the absolute final day of ticket sales, though.  If you don’t want to wait, purchase them here
While schedule changes are always tough, I want to make sure our students walk onto stage confident that they will be successful in their performance.  I hope you understand as well.  Feel free to email me back with any questions or concerns.
